RHoDaS Project Final Results
Jan 29, 2026
For more than three years the RHoDaS project, which is funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, has contributed to the advancing of the next generation of high-performance power electronics for heavy-duty electric vehicles, contributing directly to Europe’s transition toward zero-emission transport by enabling more efficient, compact, and reliable electric powertrains for trucks and other heavy-duty applications.
Specifically, the project has focused on the development of high-power hybrid T-Type converters and Integrated Motor Drives (IMDs), combining Wide Band Gap semiconductors (GaN and SiC), advanced thermal management solutions, digital tools, and eco-design principles.
This has been possible thanks to the joint work of the entire RHoDaS consortium, made up of companies from more than 5 European countries, promoting the importance of European collaboration and Industrial Advisory Board engagement in ensuring real-world relevance and long-term impact. In particular, the MCIA-UPC Research Center has developed the role of leading research partners, as well as the coordinating entity of the consortium.
In its final phase, the MCIA-UPC team presents the key research outcomes, technological innovations, and validation results achieved throughout the project.
